Fishman Aura Spectrum DI & Guitar Preamp
![]() ![]() Alright. You love your Fishman Aura pedal but you want more. In fact, you want it all. Well, you can't have that but you can get suprisingly close with the Aura Spectrum. 128 built in Images, 16 additional user-configurable locations. In addition to volume and blend, you get low, mid, high and compressor knobs to make real-time tweaks. A button is provided to turn their anti-feedback feature on and off and a button for the built in tuner. A good quality pickup sounds amazing through the Aura pedals but even crappy ones will blow your mind. Anyone who's used an acoustic guitar with a pickup knows that the sound is different from the actual sound coming from the instrument so you change your playing style to accommodate. By definition, the actual sound coming from an acoustic instrument is what makes it special. The Aura processing brings you to the edge. But wait. There's more!
Fishman also provides Windows and Mac flavors of their Gallery librarian app that allows you to replace the 16 user Images in the pedal with others from their library of over 800. The Gallery apps include searching functions to locate images by model, make, style and wood. "Yeah, but what are Images?" "Image" is the word Fishman uses to describe the configurations/programs for their Aura pedals. Images are created by comparing the sound coming out of a pickup with the sound of the same instrument being miked. The Image is the difference. When the Image is loaded into the pedal, the output from the pickup sounds like the guitar being miked. Sort of. Of course it's not perfect but we think it's amazing.
