The application also operates as a MIDI Server providing MIDI over IP. This allows applications to be written which would control MIDI devices over IP. For instance, a Mixer interface app could be written that would allow control of a MIDI controllable mixing board from a WIFI Pocket PC. The potential is frightening.
Originally the MIDI Server was a separate app but was pulled into this app to provide tighter linkage to the MIDI ports (MIDI routing, sequence playback).
The protocol is XML based but proprietary. Eventually it will provide support for some of the existing protocols (Jack, Tiger, etc..)
