I've been dying to release my "folk" arrangement of the song "Jump Up Behind Me" for a while and found a very nice version in the No Muse archives. A great lesser known tune by James Taylor that works surprisingly well with just voice and piano though I did end up using a patch on my keyboard (Korg SV-1) that included strings which is nice on that song. I normally do a longer intro and outro for the song but otherwise this is how I perform it live solo.
The second song for this week is a really great tune by Neil Young called "Birds" I did with my friend Wendy Linkin who sang harmony vocals and played acoustic guitar and Ken Shano who played electric guitar.
As Neil laments "It's over.." in Birds, this is the last of the drum-less piano and voice pieces from this series I'll be releasing. Next week we pick up with a medley of songs by Harry Nilsson "Gotta Get Up" which he wrote and "Let The Good Times Roll" by Shirley Goodman (Pixley) and Leonard Lee that he fine-tuned for his Nilsson Schmilsson album with a little drum-and-bass accompaniment.
Also, next week's release is on Thursday, Thanksgiving, instead of Friday so you can use them to help you get up and let the good times roll (sorry, I had to include that one).
