I'm not sure what possessed me to attempt the Beatles song "Help" with just myself on piano and vocals, Ken Shano on guitar and vocals and Frank Sarcia on drums but we did it anyway and ended up with a decent take owing to our shared admiration for the song and the band. Of course a song like this takes more than 2 vocals, a piano, guitar and drums. You at least need a bass guitar. Well, I did a little more than that adding a few harmony vocals and maybe an acoustic guitar (it's been a while) but it was meant to just be fun. It was only accidentally worthy of making public. John Lennon had commented that he thought it should be slower which sounds like a fine idea to me and may make for an interesting future project but for now I thought you, yes you, might enjoy this. It's amazing how I know these things.

The second song this week is the Smokey Robinson song "You've Really Got A Hold On Me" as done by The Beatles but reimagined live with Ken Shano on harmony vocals and guitar and Frank Sarcia again on drums. And again, the basic tracks were recorded live with the bass guitar and a couple of backing vocals added after the fact. Ken and I always do this one though it really requires at least 3 singers; wishful thinking for a third I think. Ken does a great job on the low harmony which was added to the arrangement by Lennon and/or George Martin I believe. Really tricky but awesome. The bass guitar for both of these tracks were added by my friend Jim Fabiano who really did McCartney's bass lines justice. Thank you Jim.
