APPENDIX:Futures <go back to table of contents>
The reality of it is that not much additional work will probably be done on this ROM/product. This chapter is really just a place to put these ideas in case this tread ever gets re-ignited by some miracle.

Dry signal pan control under software control. This really should have been in this version but it just slipped through the cracks. Does anyone have a preference for what the defaults should be? Currently, the system defaults to ON and in the center of the mix which is typically how I use it. This is great for stand alone use but would be a problem when using the system in an effects loop. Also, do we want both level and pan on the front panel? Let me know.

- Larger EPROM.

Code space is tight with the current 32kX8 EPROM. Adding a simple jumper enables the system to use a 64KX8 EEPROM doubling the space. I will have to do some additional work in software but we're going to need it if we want to do much else. The biggest problem is I'm not sure I have any/many 64KX8 (27512, 27C512, etc…) EPROMS whereas I do have a few dozen 32KX8 (27256, 27C256, etc..) chips. This is probably the quickest path but I'm not sure what I'm going to do about EPROMs.

- Flash ROM

This is really the way to go. I have the basic tool set together to flash update the operating system via MIDI. It would require a hardware mod, however, which I am not interested in doing. Again, if someone wants to do this for people, I'll provide the software. I'll probably do it anyway (for myself) and post the directions and code.

- More DRAM

The system could really use more DRAM (audio memory) but the mod is pretty extensive and the power supply would probably croak. An upgrade would require some special attention. It's do-able but I don't have the time right now. Anybody wants to do a board for this, I'd be glad to help out with design and software but I'm sticking to software for now.
