This section provides a description of the new operating system.
Like the original JamMan, this new software allows the user to define a loop in real time by pressing a button once to begin recording
and
a second time to stop recording and begin looping the audio.
Probably the most important change in the new software is the ability to playback multiple loops at the same time. To deal with playing multiple loops at the same time, a virtual mixer was created in the dsp which allows the operator to set the position of each loop in the stereo mix and it's level.
The stereo output of the mixer appears at the output of the JamMan.
Once the first loop has been "tapped" in, additional loops are added by selecting the Channel (of the mixer). If the loop assigned to the Channel hasn't been initialized, it is "queued" and initialized beginning at the next loop edge.
Via MIDI, you simply select the new channel. Using the JamMan footpedals, you press the Channel button until the desired channel is displayed (the Channel LED lights) then press and hold the button to enqueue the loop.
In addition to playing multiple loops at the same time, the new software allows you to mute one group of loops and and enable another group of loops (like the original JamMan, except that, again, more than one loop can play at a time). In the Stec software, we refer to the seperate groups of loops as "Pages".

Page 2
New Pages are initialized much like the original JamMan initialized new loops.
To put it another way, serial loops (or groups of loops) are referred to as "Pages". Parallel loops are referred to as "Channels". "Pages" are like snapshots of the mixer with different tracks of the tape assigned to each channel/loop.
When you select a new Page, the actual change occures at the edge of the loop. If no loops have been initialized in that Page, the loop assigned to the first channel is initialized (like the original JamMan).
Functions
Like the original JamMan, several "Functions" have been provided alter
the content or operating mode of a given channel. While up to 8 loops can
be played back at a time, you can only apply a "Function" to one channel/loop
at a time (note - there are some exceptions). To apply a Function to a
channel, the channel is first made active (select it then press and hold
the CHAN button) then the TAP button is used to toggle the Function on
and off. When using MIDI, these functions can be accessed directly.
This is a table of functions with "Replace" selected. Pressing TAP will toggle "Replace" on and off. (refer to the main Functions section for the current list of functions).
