I just wanted to post some details about what's been going on with the forum for the last few days. As if to validate the Robert Jordan axiom "The Law of Unintended Consequences"*, a fix I added to the main StecRecords.com server caused the forms in the forum to stop working.  The server change redirected visitors who left out the www in the url address field to a version WITH the www added "for them".  Javascript is very particular about the exact url it associates with but as it turns out, I myself left out the www in the forum setup so the redirect would keep happening when the form loaded. Problem is, the form data doesn't get copied by the redirect so it appeared to erase the field contents. The fix was literally typing three letters: www and reposting the file.  I will say it again: Bloody hell! I'm not even going to tell you how long it took me to figure this out. but it was a challenge.

In the process of debugging the problem, I installed an upgrade for the forum code which, of course, introduced "a host", I repeat, "a host" of other problems.  I'm still chasing broken bits and pieces but my forum was obviously suffering from separation anxiety and demanded quality time from one of its most patent forum-gardeners:) Bob
