The Tap button allows you to tap in the tempo in to match what you are playing so you don't have to dial it in.
As you tap the beats in a measure, the tempo is calculated by averaging the space between your taps.
For example, if the time signature was set for 4:4, you would press the Tap button 4 times. As you press the text on the tap button changes telling you which tap it is waiting for.
