My first No-Muse release this week is the song "I'm Mandy. Fly Me" by Eric Stewart, Graham Gouldman and Kevin Godley of the band 10cc which was a minor hit for them in 1976 just ahead of their huge hit "The Things We Do For Love" later that year. Ironically, the latter song and songs like it fueled the split of the band with Kevin Godley and Lol Creme emerging as a separate entity yielding amazing works such as the legendary "Consequences" album (set) and bringing their "Gizmo" invention (a guitar bridge-thing that produces violin-like sounds) to market. Creme and Godley also went on to video work creating some amazing music videos. After the split, the remaining members of the band, Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman put together a touring band and continued to produce great music including the legendary "Dreadlock Holiday".
The second song this week is "The World Ain't Slowing Down" written by Ellis Paul and immortalized in the movie "Me, Myself and Irene". I had been doing it on the guitar but tried it on the keyboards with an electric piano patch and liked it a lot. It's a tricky one since the verse vocals overlap the chorus vocals in places but worked out okay.
It's worth noting that neither of these songs required any editing other than the fake applause at the end.
